Entry for March 20, 2007
Cognitive therapy is one of the few forms of psychotherapy that has been scientifically tested and found to be effective in over three hundred clinical trials for many different disorders. I usually ask clients at the beginning to define the change they want to see and experience at the end of therapy. Some clients have a clear view of what they want to achieve, others need several sessions to uncover their issue(s). Although shortcuts to experience improvements cannot be made usually the first signs of improvement can be seen after three to four weeks. Helpfull during the process are the attending of sessions, preparing for next sessions and making time to reflect on the last session: asking yourself what happened and what have i learned.
